The RAI, or Disputed Bills Register, is one of the main defaults of payment consultation files of businesses in Spain. When consulting the RAI file you will obtain information that will help you make better credit decisions.

What is the RAI file?

RAI, or Disputed Bills Register, is a file of legal entities' unpaid debts.

The RAI file is managed by the interbank cooperation centre (Centro de Cooperación Interbancaria), where banks, saving banks, rural banks, and credit cooperative institutions provide information on unpaid bills of exchange of an amount of not less than 300.51 euros.

This debt must be true, expired, and enforceable.

Find out if a company is included in the RAI file in just 3 steps:

  1. Go to INFORMA's customer area. Register here
  2. Check if the company you want is listed in the RAI file.
  3. Consult the business report. All the information on the RAI file will appear on the Business Risk section.

What information will I get in the RAI report?

When consulting a company report in INFORMA you will obtain the following information:

If the company is included in the RAI file: :

  • Total number of unpaid bills by a company listed in the RAI file.
  • Total amount summed up (€).
  • Date of the latest incidence registered.

If the RAI file inquiry is negative:

  • Verification that the company has no incidents in the RAI file, with the date and time of the consultation.

What are the consequences of being listed in the RAI file?

Being included in the RAI defaults of payment file might have some consequences:

  • Difficulty in obtaining new financing, since it shows that the company does not have a good financial health.
  • Loss of credibility of the company, making it more difficult to get new projects, clients, or suppliers. 
  • Difficulty in public credit granting, such as ICO funding.
