What is the RIJ?

The Judicial Unpaid Amounts Register is a specialised negative solvency file for lawyers, legal representatives, and labour advisers in which they can include and consult debts that are in court or in the pre-judicial phase, and that have been claimed on their own behalf or on behalf of their clients.

The Judicial Unpaid Amounts Register (RIJ) file includes those debts that are certain, due, enforceable, not inferior to 50€, whose existence or amount has not been the subject of an administrative or judicial claim by the debtor or through a binding alternative dispute resolution procedure between the parties.

How does it work?

  • Lawyers claim the debt, including the creditor, debtor, and debt data.
  • The Judicial Unpaid Amounts Register verifies and reviews the inclusion of the debt.
  • The debtor is requested to pay the debt and is informed that if the debt remains unpaid it will be included in the RIJ defaults of payment file.
  • If the debt is not paid, the debtor is notified of the inclusion in the RIJ, and the debt is made public within 30 days.
